I really wasn't sure if this should have been posted in the EVP form or the TV forum - so forgive me if I made the wrong call and move it to best suited place (even if that's the bin haha)
I was just wondering if anyone had seen the Paranormal State Episode that featured the lady who was hooked on EVP's, and, according to the team, had unwittingly opened up herself to all kinds of spirits, including the not so nice ones. Now, my opinion of this show isn't fabulous but I do believe they did speak some sense in this instance...
Paranormal Intervention, Paranormal State – Season One
By hearing about it on the TV, this lady thought she could talk to the dead and because she was still grieving her own losses and wasn't ready to let go, she brought herself a recorder and so the story begins - but by clinging on to the idea of talking to the dead she was forgetting to focus on the now, the living - so off she went with her EVP recordings and got herself to the point where she would get up in the middle of the night to see what she could catch on tape and blamed her depressive moods on the spirit whom she believed was haunting her home, but in reality it was her own depression – hidden only to have this EVP obsession as an outlet for it.
So my question goes out to those that which to offer thoughts on this.
How dangerous do you think EVP work is for the novice, what proceedings and safe guards should be put in place and lastly, hearing that ladies story, is it really such a great idea to have shows on the TV that show EVP's and other such investigative equipment that are believed to aid communications to the other side be so freely available to the public - keeping in mind, most of them believe it as they see it - if they say it on TV then it must true etc...
