Never taunt a ghost

Postby sharon on Wed Aug 20, 2008 11:25 pm

I've been helping out a friend that does ghost tours as her health hasn't been that good. It is really fun to be on the other side of the fence doing the narrating instead of the listening.

On one tour there was this loud mouth sceptic, who seemed to be ruining the tour for the other 14 people. At one extremely haunted location he starting taunting the ghosts to show themselves to him. We were trying to ignore him and carry on with the tour, but it really did get too much for us and the rest of the tour party.

So we gently asked the resident ghost to show herself or give a sign that she was present, but there was no response this night.

About a couple of minutes later the loud mouth was eating crow. All of a sudden this ghost was seen standing nose to nose with this man, and it was a toss up who was whiter.

He started trembling, sweating and extremely fearful and had to be carried back to the waiting coach. Thankfully the rest of the night went smoothly as he kept his mouth and his opinions to himself.

Apparently this particular spirit doesn't like sceptics and will play with do things like poking them, or tripping them over. I suppose it's his way of saying here I am and I do exist.......

This is a photo taken on one of the tours last weekend. I showed a friend of mine and she said she could see someone in the window.

It's a wonderful old house and quite active.

pmsl..good one.

As a sceptic myself I would love for a ghost to go nose to nose with me.

That would be great although I would probably pee my pants. :D

Still,it would be the proof I am looking for.

Afraid I cant see anything at the window.
Dont look back, you may miss the life in front.

What a great story! Serves him right.

We had a situation a couple of years ago where one of our guests on a history tour wouldn't shut up. Neither dirty glances from her fellow guests or shushing by them made any difference. Yap, yap, yap, yap, yap. By the time they got into the forth room, halfway through the tour, she was still chattering away. Then a door from the sideboard swung open and hit her firmly on the ass. She was quiet after that.

The following Halloween, they decided to incorporate that story into the ghost tours. As the docent was telling the story, just when she got to the part about the obnoxious guest getting swatted on the but, the same door swung open and hit the docent in the butt. You gotta love our ghosts. Who else would be nice enough to help illustrate a story? =)

That tour sounds like fun, or better yet the spirits there have a sense of humour.

I'm dying to get my HUGE sceptic of a husband on the tour I was helping out on so something like that will happen to him....ooooh I'd be the happiest wife then.

Hee hee. My husband finally believes after his keys went missing. After searching for them for 15 minutes, they miraculously reappeared right where he thought that he had left them.

I am gearing up to give some Halloween ghost tours, too. I have signed up for every tour at the museum house. I hope something happens. The ghosts have been very quiet there all year. They are still around and communicate mentally, but have barely made their presences known on the physical level. At this rate, I won't have any new stories to tell. They usually get very active this time of year and pull some big stunt during the tours themselves. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
