Those of you that are on my friends list on myspace may have already seen this, but I thought That I would post it here as well. You know, to kind help get this thing kick started. If you have not seen this before and wish to comment on it, plaese feel free to do so.

OK so I am new to this. Not just the whole blog thing, but also exploring this gift that I may or may not have. How does one truely know if they have a gift, or that they are a sensitive at all? How does one know that they are not just fooling themself because they have had some good readings?

So just what is it that I do? Well, it is like this, I get these memories(for lack of a better word) that are not my own. It is like a memory gets triggered in my head, and it is so real, that it feels as if I had actually experianced the event. But the problem is, it is not me in the memory, but rather it is some one else. And the places I see and the things that I do in these memories are places that I have never been to, ond things that I have not done.

I do know that they memories that I got as a child got me into a lot of trouble, and for that reason, I started surpressing them. But now that I am exploring this gift, I have some real concerns about it. My main concern is that some of the people that I have worked with are more certain of my abilities than I am. I do not want them to totally believe me, because I am not truely convinced of my ability myself. I know that I do get these images, and that I know things that I have no idea where the knowledge came from, but how do I know that the information I things I see are for the person I am talking too? And what if they take the things I say and act on it,, only to find out later that I was wrong? This is the moral delema that I live with as I explore this thing. I want to be helpful, but not hurtful.

Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

Keep a journal and track your hits and misses. After doing that for awhile, you will be able to better discern whether what you are feeling is truly psychic input or just your imagination.

I've noticed that other people are more ready to believe in one's abilities than the person themself usually is if they haven't had this ability strongly their whole life. And the other people are usually right. Self doubt is normal.

If you are concerned that you are wrong, give them the information with a disclaimer that you can't guarantee that the information is correct. They have free will to act upon it or not. Chances they have been paying attention to your past track record and know whether or not they can trust your instincts.

Heres a few of my thoughts, that may be of help for you.

Firstly, I believe it is natural for us to doubt our 'abilities', for without doubt I believe we'd have ego's as big as can be and wouldn't work for the good of others, it would be a self gratification thing and that would certainly lead to a block of some sorts with spirit. So don't knock yourself for self doubt - no matter where on the pathway, even the most respected and developed mediums have regular doubt, it’s healthy and keeps us in check. As suggested in the previous post, keep a diary to keep track of your hits and misses - and practise, practise! After a period of time, you'll start to notice why, who and where your messages are for...as you will start to notice a pattern of feelings that come from the variety of messages and imagery you are receiving. I am unsure how you work, exactly, but keeping that diary of readings, experiences and feelings and how they relate to each other will help you keep track of how each ability works Thus developing not only your reading style, but also your recognition as to who the messages are for and why you are receiving them, also who they are from.

Secondly, no words should be given that would change a persons free will. I disagree with telling someone they need to do this or that within a reading...as a psychic or medium I believe we have a responsibility to our sitter that should be taken very seriously, no matter whether you are charging or not. Be careful with your words and always actively remind your sitter that they have free will and the future is forever changing depending on even the smallest choices they make. If you have information that you feel would change their world, think about how to say it...think fully about the consequences.

And lastly, as you are a beginner, it would take a lot of pressure of you if you informed the person of this, before passing on any information. Not only are you saying, hey, I’m new to this, but….
You are also letting that person know not to take what you say too seriously, therefore having less of an impact on any choices they may make in the future, based on the reading.

Lastly, it might be of benefit for you to practise and develop if you joined a group of some sorts – so you could pass on information in an environment that meant less worry of the consequences of information passed on. I know local groups are hard to come by, but there are also many internet based groups that meet regularly. Perhaps the boards here might start an evening where we could develop our techniques?

And, to answer the major question you asked, how do you know if you have an ability, or if it's simply wishful thinking from a small amount of good feedback you've had - ask yourself this:::

How do you recieve your information - how are you feeling when you recieve the information. Seriously, step back and look at your situation as an outsider. Are you just having thoughts pop into your head without any other feelings? If so, then yes it's likely to be wishful thinking, unless you've done over 50 readings with at least 95% excellent feedback - But if your recieving information, hearing, smelling or seeing things too, and having a reaction to the energy around you - then it's time to face it gal - you have abilities!

SO, keep a diary, don't sell yourself short if you do believe you have an ability - go for it and find a way of developing in a judgement free enviroment. and good luck !!!
