Digitial Dowsing

Postby cayen on Tue Jul 08, 2008 12:59 am

A sad day in the realm of Real Time Spirit Communication (RTSC). Digital Dowsing has closed up shop for the time being due to some folks who are abusing his technology.
a quote on his site
To Invent takes Imagination
To Create takes will
To Destroy takes a lack of Ethics

My hope is that some day Ethics will be part of the Paranormal Community!

In a world where people turn on their peers for recreation and groups
mislead the public to promote themselves . I choose not to participate.
Paratardation is Curable!

This saddens me to no end. Not only did those few affect many (myself included as I went on the site to buy a Puck or Ovilus) but it also strikes home what kind of people can come into this field. There are some people who want to help. People like Chris Fleming, Chip Coffey, ect ect. However as always with society there is the dark under belly. People who want a piece of the action they see from shows like Paranormal State, Ghost hunters, and such. However these ones don't want to further the field but want to make a quick buck and their 15 minutes of fame off of something we don't even understand yet.

RTSC isn't even in a position where we can truly claim that what we're hearing is paranormal. At best we can only say that it's producing anomalies and needs to be studied further. This could be nothing more then audio matixing (as I've heard before). Visually we know matrixing to exist, I'm sure if we study this we can find the same matrixing coming from auditory sources. With so much unknown there are still some ignorant people are claiming it as the truth.

Why must people be such jerks? Why do people who are only doing something for the love of it have to stop because people are becoming too serious and want to hurt others through the use of it.

I wish I could say this has never happend before, but even in other fields outside of the paranormal this has happend time and time again. [/quote]

OK, that explains the e-mail I got from him when I asked for a list of the 512 words used on the Ovilus a few days ago. He said he'd post it on the website if he decided to continue making the things.

I wonder what in the heck happened. I was on a e-mail group for ITC research, and there was a lot of ego issues causing problems to the point where half the founders of the group quit. Bill was also on that list. I had to set the list to "no mail" ever since my old harddrive blew up a few weeks ago, but it sounds suspiciously like there was more idiocy going on. (sigh)

Oh, good. It sounds like he's kind of like Frank Sumption. Frank periodically gets fed up and threatens to quit the research forever. But he always gets drawn back. It would be stupid to let the actions of a few egomaniacal twits stop the research for good.

Speaking of Frank Sumption and the Frank's Box. I'm working on my own box right now using the ideas behind Frank's Box and the ghost hacks. I'll be posting periodical updates on it. So far my idea is to create a hibrid box between the Frank's box and the ovilus.

This box will probably have a built in transmitter that just transmits words to a receiver that will sweep the bands at the same time. While I'm not sure what the results might be, I'm hoping this hybrid box might provide clearer audio responses for Real Time Spirit communication.

I just got off the phone with Bill Chappell a bit ago. I really feel for what he's going through. The problems he's having are very similar to the problems we're having with a software we made thats unrelated to the paranormal.

However he's had a few I never had a problems with parents buying this for their 8 year old son or daughter to play with.

...yeah thats good parenting...

He seemed very tired and frustrated with people quick to blame him and his device when they barely had time to use it. It was a great conversation with the man, a sad conversation about what he's gone through, but still great.

I was surprised to learn about what his demographic is ultimately turning out to be. (If you want to find out you'll have to talk to him).

His devices are amazing in what they can do, However they open up questions about what an EMF field can do.

Holy cow. Was that before or after he put up the disclaimers about it not being for children? And I have to question the common sense of anyone who would spend $200 on ghost hunting equipment for an 8 year old anyway.

He seemed very tired and frustrated with people quick to blame him and his device when they barely had time to use it. It was a great conversation with the man, a sad conversation about what he's gone through, but still great.

Again, what on earth could they be blaming him for? He clearly has disclaimer saying that it doesn't necessarily allow you to talk to the dead. He also had a link to my blog about it that has samples (basically what I've posted here), so if people are having trouble understanding what comes out of it, again, it's not like they had no way to know in advance.

While I agree that the computerized speech is not the easiest thing in the world to understand, so what? It's EXPERIMENTAL equipment. It's also nothing you can't train your ear to just like any foreign accent. And I did get results within an hour of use that were clearly communication from the spirit I deal with all the time. A friend of mine pointed out that even in the dictionary sample I posted, there's a lot of communication going on along those same lines.

I was surprised to learn about what his demographic is ultimately turning out to be. (If you want to find out you'll have to talk to him).

I'm more curious about what he's got in demographics. When I ordered all he got was my name and address. So all he knows is that I'm female and what part of the country I live in.

His devices are amazing in what they can do, However they open up questions about what an EMF field can do.

Personally, I thought the interconnected recordings of the Puck was a brilliant idea. If I didn't need to be able to take it out in the field, I would have gone for that instead of the Ovilus. As finances allow, I will be getting a Puck and a laptop as well.

apparently it even says on the puck it's not for children yet he had to talk to a kid about why it was saying words he didn't even put into the puck.

As for people quick to blame him or the puck for the randomness in the text or problems with the software, that happens in everything software related. We deal with people quickly blaming our software for their stupidity.

His website is back up in full mode. Check out the new disclaimer:

"Private Sale:

Sales will only be offered by private contact with Digital Dowsing LLC,

This has been done to more tightly control the use of these devices.
Especially where children under the age of 18 are concerned."

Oh, and he's coming out with the Ovilus II next month. Lucky devil, Cayen. You may have to wait a little longer to get one, but yours will probably be cooler.

who says I have to wait longer? Actually he just now finished writing up a disclaimer for me to fill out. I'm going to go through it and if I have any suggestions I'm going to give it to him ^^

Oho, so you're special, are you?!! LOL! Good for you!

You'll have to give us a full reports on the improvements Bill has made with the Ovilus II.

Does the disclaimer have a line asking if the customer is an irresponsible knucklehead? I guess that might be a little too direct.

actually I'm getting a puck, however I can report on my findings on here. I'm going to put it through major testing seeing if outside influences can control the results. It'll be interesting to find out.

Well never mind he's stopping productions on the puck and Ovilus and going with a product that has a project name of Ovilus 2. So we'll see what he calls it when it's done.

I hope that it still has the capability to write out and record the communication that is coming through. That is the feature I'm most interested in. It'll be harder to convince myself to invest in an Ovilus II without that while I still have a perfectly good Ovilus I in my hot little hands.

I'm thinking the Ovilus 2 is the Puck and Ovilus combined. But we'll see what the final product holds. He'll send me an email when the first ship date is on that.

I hope Bill is surviving the new round of attention he's gotten from the use of the Ovilus on Paranormal State. I have a couple of blogs on MySpace about the Ovilus and got over 600 hits since Monday night! It's great to see all the positive interest that the show has generated. OTOH, I'm quite irritated with some of the unfounded attacks against him on their forum. The guys casting aspersions against him haven't even bothered reading the information on the Digital Dowsing website before making their attacks. I don't mind people having differences of opinion, but I do expect them to at least be fair and respectful about it. Let's hope the positive attention is outweighting everything else.
