Aquaforous Cameras

Does anyone know if there is a website or link to find information on cameras designed to be used underwater (or to repel water or UV rays from producing glare)....have an older 35mm Minolta I can't find much info on that is being funky.

I invested a few minutes into chatting with a local dealer, but they seem to think it might be a motherboard issue. It was purchased in the early 90's, so I'm not even sure it contains one. And of course, they wanted extreme $ just to send it away. I can't seem to find any date other than a product code on the underside, but would love to use it on an investigation.

If anyone has any tips or a useful site, that would be fantastic!

Thanks for your help....it's a larger, yellow Minolta AF Dual 35 with underwater zoom.

#92211228.

I haven't used it in about 5 years. It was working just fine over the weekend then went freaky. I believe they have a thermostat, so I'm not sure if it's a regulator or what the issue is. I'm just not hip on paying $150 to send it away....if it's deemed 'unrepairable, they just keep the dough and don't even send it back.

You're going to the Stanley, how cool!!! :D :D :D

at the price I've seen on one website just buy a whole new camera

The most expensive camera that has all those bells and whistles is 32 bucks.

Thanks for the link for comparison.

I am not a S.C.U.B.A. enthusiast....it was used in containment units and underwater to provide documentation.

However, it takes (took) great photos and you can definitely tell the difference in clarity on land shots. I just haven't used it lately, but it was stored well.

I'm going to pop out the 800 film with the 4 shots I have and let someone local tinker. Nothing to lose at this point....just really bums me out. It powers up, takes a few shots, then shuts off, almost like a component isn't allowing it to power up.

I never really thought about it until a few weeks ago. I thought it might diffuse out dust particles from being labeled as orbs and provide more clairty/diffuse light in darker shots. Just a thought...we'll see. :?

I'm trying to get the dust orb problem worked out, too. At one point I had been told that cameras with megapixelage of 7 or higher prevented dust orbs from showing up. So, I got myself a lovely 10.2 megapixel camera. I'll be darned if I'm not still getting orbs in the shots I've taken at the haunted museum. That's OK, if they really are ghosts, but I was trying to get nice CLEAR pictures of the house itself.

Abbey have you looked into building a D.E.V.A. to fit onto your camera?

I know the original version of it was meant for Video cameras but I think you might be able to modify one to fit a digital camera.
